About.
I’m Rae Pittenger Jimenez (she/they/ella), a femme Latina with intersecting identities living and working in the Duwamish area (Puget Sound of Washington).
With nearly ten years of experience, whether as a midwife, birth assistant, or doula, my approach has always been rooted in empathy, presence, and awe of the unique journey every family embarks on. I view myself as an artist-midwife — a creative and collaborative practitioner weaving the elements of health and medicine with art and a reverence for story-telling. My goal is to provide not just medical care, but a space where families feel seen, supported, and affirmed in every step of their journey.
I graduated from Bastyr University, where I earned my master’s degree in midwifery and completed my thesis on prenatal models of care. As a certified professional midwife through the National Association of Registered Midwives (NARM) and licensed by the Washington state Department of Health, I am privileged to guide families through some of life’s most profound moments. Additionally, I am a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, drawing on my training from the Institute for Functional Medicine to integrate personalized, science-based health practices into my care.
My journey in midwifery is enriched by certifications from the Women’s Integrative Medicine Institute and University of Minnesota Acupressure Training, and I actively engage in continuing education and peer review to stay connected with evolving practices.
I’m a proud member of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality, the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM), and the Midwives Association of Washington State (MAWS).
